A Paloma is a refreshing grapefruit and tequila cocktail. Here’s how to make this bubbly, tart, and delicious drink!

Pink grapefruit cocktail ina glass garnished with lime and grapefruit. Are you gearing up for Cinco de Mayo at home this year? If so, I’ve got your cocktail needs covered. This refreshing Mexican cocktail is  flavored with tequila, grapefruit, and lime. It’s perfect alongside a big bowl of tortilla chips with Pineapple Mango Salsa or Street Corn Guacamole.

Margaritas are usually my go-to Cinco de Mayo cocktails. We love Spicy Margaritas, Strawberry Margaritas, Peach Margaritas, and Frozen Margaritas, but this year we’re using tequila for these sweet and tart Paloma Cocktails!

Ingredients needed

  • Tequila (blanco/silver)
  • Freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
  • Freshly squeezed lime juice
  • Grapefruit soda or sparkling grapefruit juice (I used Izze)

Pink grapefruit cocktail ina glass garnished with lime and grapefruit.

How to make a Paloma Cocktail

  1. Fill a glass with ice.
  2. Add tequila, grapefruit juice and lime juice; stir to combine.
  3. Top off with grapefruit soda.

How to add a salt or sugar rim

Here’s how to add a touch of salt (or sugar) to the rim of your glass:

  • Cut a slit into a wedge of lime and run the lime wedge around the rim of your glass.
  • Pour kosher salt, sugar, or a combination of both onto a plate and dip/twist your glass into the mixture.
