The BEST and easiest Honey Butter! A mixture of sweet honey and creamy butter with a touch of cinnamon and a splash of vanilla extract. A sweet and delicious topping for biscuits, muffins, rolls, bread, sweet potatoes, pancakes, waffles, and more!

Honey Butter

HONEY BUTTER! But not just any honey butter – honey butter with a touch of vanilla, a pinch of warm cinnamon, and a sprinkle of sea salt. You’re going to be slathering this on every carbohydrate in sight. Trust me, I speak from experience.

Ready to be the star of the holiday season? Make/bring/share/serve this butter with anyone and everyone. This recipe is ridiculously simple and it comes out absolutely perfect. It goes great on so many different things – more on that below! This is the fastest and easiest way to elevate a side dish or breakfast item. Everyone will be impressed that you whipped up your own flavored butter!

Honey Butter Recipe

This recipe couldn’t be easier – it is literally one step. Here’s what you need to make Honey Butter:

  • Softened Butter – Use your favorite brand of butter. I prefer unsalted because I like to control the amount of salt that will be added. Let it sit at room temp for an hour or so, until it’s soft enough to easily mix.
  • Honey – 1/4 cup honey sweetens and flavors the butter.
  • Ground Cinnamon – Just 1/4 teaspoon adds a touch of warm spice to the honey butter. Adjust the cinnamon to suit your taste. Or leave it out, if you’d prefer a stronger honey flavor.
  • Vanilla Extract – A splash of vanilla extract adds an underlying vanilla flavor. This is what sets this recipe apart from other honey butter recipes – it is so GOOD!
  • Salt – This ingredient is super important! We need to balance all those sweet ingredients with a little salt.
  • Powdered Sugar – Optional, but highly recommended. It helps to give the butter a thicker yet soft and spreadable consistency.

Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, beat all of the ingredients together until smooth and combined. Serve immediately or refrigerate until you need it. I keep it in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

What to Eat With Honey Butter

Now that you have that beautiful butter, let’s think of all the ways to use it:

  • Rolls, Buttermilk Biscuits, Rosemary Biscuits, Bread
  • Toast, English muffins, bagels
  • Pancakes, French Toast, Waffles
  • Oatmeal
  • Cornbread
  • Baked Sweet Potatoes
  • Roasted Butternut Squash
  • Fried Chicken (melt and drizzle over the cooked chicken)

Does Honey Butter Need to be Refrigerated?

I recommend refrigerating this butter because it lasts longer that way. If you’re planning on eating it within a couple of days you can leave it out tightly covered in a butter crock, butter dish, or food storage container.

Note: You absolutely want to serve it at room temperature. If it’s not already softened, I recommend removing it from the fridge 1-2 hours before you need it to allow it to soften.

Whip up this butter and have it ready in your fridge for whenever you need it. Trust me, you will find plenty of uses for it.
